Black Ice 2011 -- Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation's inaugural social event,
was a smashing success!! Thanks to Johnny Rocco's, SunMedia, National
Jewellers, Rolex, Performance Cars (Mercedez-Benz, Lexus, Acura,
Hyundai, BMW), Stone Mill Grand Ballroom, Bertie Printers, HardBodies
Fitness, Tango Boutique, The Queen Muse, Stars Men's Shop, Henry of
Pelham, Reif Estate Winery, Konzelmann Estate Winery and Chef James
Cuttriss for all the support.
Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation hosted its first Donor Appreciation Come
& Go Tea on June 23, 2011. Many donors and supporters of Hotel Dieu
Shaver, including staff were on hand to mix and mingle and see how
presented another cheque in the amount of $1,000, bringing his total to
date to $10,000.

Jack Sinke, a former patient of Hotel Dieu Shaver Health & Rehabilitation
Centre has been turning empty pop cans and refundable bottles into
medical equipment. During the Donor Appreciation Come & Go Tea, Mr.
Sinke presented Foundation Executive Director Brian Kon with a cheque
for $1,000.00, bringing his total donations to $10,000 in just over a year,

Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation held a Jack Sinke open to
the public was a celebration of all that Jack has done along
with his volunteers from United For Others (UFO). To date,
Jack has reached the $12,000 mark in donations. He
doesn't plan to stop there. Stay tuned to see how much Jack
brings to Hotel Dieu Shaver in the future.

Patricia Rooney, and Brian Kon, HDS Foundation Executive Director.
Former patient Rachele Dove spoke of the importance of her care after
having a stroke at 20 years of age. Sister Louise Dillon said a prayer over
the Angels for the Campaign. JAQ (Just Another Quartet) provided the
entertainment.
As per tradition, the Angels rode in on their horse-drawn carriage.

Hotel Dieu Shaver Health & Rehabilitation Centre announces expansion of
Outpatient Rehabilitation Centre. This 5,700 square foot addition will
provide a combination of new rehabilitation equipment that is unique not
only to the region but all of Ontario. Brian Kon, Foundation Executive
Director has committed, on behalf of the community, to use money from
the Snowflakes & Angels Christmas Campaign in 2010 and 2011 to help
purchase equipment that will outfit this new space. Total cost for
equipment is $258,000, nearly half is yet to be raised by the annual
campaign. To donate, please contact the Foundation Office or donate on
line.
December 4. Breakfast with Santa and the Hotel Dieu Shaver
Foundation Angels host breakfast at the Pen Centre. For the second
year, the Pen Centre has generously donated breakfast for children 10
years of age and younger. This event is to thank the community for
supporting Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation in raising money for special
projects each year.
December 1 through 4, 2011 Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation patient
bus on display. As part of the annual Snowflakes & Angels Christmas
Campaign, the Foundation and volunteers will be in the Pen Centre Mall
(St. Catharines) to raise awareness about the facility and to showcase the
patient bus that was purchased with the proceeds from the 2009
Snowflakes & Angels Campaign.
